Direct Access Change Authentication Method has no effect

I'm trying to require smart card authentication for the Direct Access clients. However after checking the checkbox on the remote access server configuration screen, and leaving OTP unchecked, I can see that strong authentication is enabled in the configuration summary.

The GPO's seems to be modified, however I don't see any relevant settings being updated. Also the clients can still hapilly connect to DA using username/password...

Any thoughts?
