UAG and LDAP (Windows 2008 or AD LDS??)

I am looking for information on using LDAP for authentication when UAG is in a workgroup.

There are numerous TechNet articles on using LDAP, but nothing mentions using Windows 2008 R2 LDAP or AD LDS.  The only option in UAG is Netscape LDAP.

If I configure Netscape LDAP using 2008 R2 server, I can search users, add groups, add the base DN, etc..  Authtication does not work.  I get a message that the DN can not be found.  The account being used for LDAP can search AD using LDP and ADSI edit.

Can a Windows 2008 server be used for LDAP, or how do you configure AD LDS to act as the LDAP source?
