We currently use Windows 7 Pro computers with Cisco VPN. The problem we have with some remote workers is that go to client sites full time and often must connect to other VPNs all day. Since our VPN and their VPN cannot both be connected at the same time, often they don't get Windows update approvals and downloads, status reporting, offline file syncing and backup of redirected folders since they are almost never connected to our VPN.
Now that Windows 8.1 Enterprise is available for purchase through the Volume Licensing program without signing up for Software Assurance contracts, we are considering upgrading a few laptops to 8.1 Enterprise and enabling Direct Access as a trial to see if Direct Access would resolve that problem.
Does Direct Access still work and allow communication with our network if the user connects to another organization's VPN?
