Good afternoon All, We have implemented DirectAccess solution which appears to work quite well for the most part. However certain applications which use MSDTC are unable to connect to the database which sits on the Corporate network. Connectivity to the SQL server works fine, as this allows said applications to run and retrieve data, however when the application tries to use MSDTC it fails. Running the DTCPing test, we can see connectivity to the SQL Server, however the SQL server isn't able to reply (assume this is because the internal Server is using IPV4, whereas the client is now on IPV6 though DA).
Had two laptops both accessing the network through DirectAccess (both machines now have an IPV6 address, each machine can ping each other), tested the DTC Ping tool from both machines to each other. They both failed at the initial step of being able to resolve the hostname. Reading up on this MSDTC, uses MSRPC which relies on NETBIOS. Further reading revealed NETBIOS is not supported on IPV6.
Wanted to enquire if anyone had managed to get MSDTC working while on Direct Access, or like the reading suggested this is simply not supported. Thanks in advance,
